David Wilcox

Cleveland-born David Wilcox is an acoustic guitarist/singer/songwriter whose music is intelligent, humorous, insightful and melodic. He is often compared to James Taylor and John Martyn. His independent album in 1987 was a winner of the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk award in 1988. His first release on the label, 'How Did You Find Me Here,' sold over 100,000 copies the first year. Casey earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, CT. Post graduation, he dedicated himself to instructing students of the Greater Hartford, CT Area, while playing in local bands and outfits of a stylistic variety. One of these bands, Little Ugly, won Best Rock Band in Hartford's Grand Band Slam 2011 and Best Band in Hartford Magazine 2012. Relocating to Colorado in the summer of 2012, Casey took up a teaching residency at The Lesson Studio in Boulder, and continues to provide guitar, bass and ukulele lessons at this location. He is a proud member of the band Words In Flight, which plays shows throughout the Boulder and Denver areas. Heavily influenced by Jake Shimabukuro's ukulele approach, he believes in blending melodies and chords together to create a unique sound from an instrument once solely relegated to vocal accompaniment.
