Chic featuring Nile Rodgers

Disco
Chic stripped disco's sound down to its basic elements. The band's funky, stylish grooves had an organic sense of interplay that was missing from many of their overproduced competitors. CHIC's sound was anchored by the scratchy, James Brown-style rhythm guitar of Nile Rodgers and the indelible, widely imitated (sometimes outright stolen) bass lines of Bernard Edwards; as producers, they used keyboard and string embellishments economically, which kept the emphasis on rhythm.

David Cross

Stand Up Comedy
Irreverent comedian and social commentator David Cross has maintained a relatively low celebrity profile while at the same time working consistently in TV, film, and the live performance circuit, endearing himself to legions of fans. His smart and fearless comedy style is marked by a simultaneous honesty and cynicism that kind of goes beyond satire to somewhere else. His solo work tends to focus on topics of religion, politics, and a total refusal to skirt around any issue. Characterized by his small frame, bald head, and black glasses, his major career accomplishment has been as one-half of the HBO series 'Mr. Show with Bob and David.' Born in Atlanta, GA, he went to college in Boston and started doing stand-up comedy before moving out to Los Angeles. He met Bob Odenkirk while working as a writer for 'The Ben Stiller Show' on HBO and the two joined forces to create the unique sketch comedy series 'Mr. Show' in 1995. With Odenkirk and Cross as the original funders, writers, actors, and executive producers, the show was nominated for several Emmy awards and eventually ended in 1998.

Jose Gonzalez
With yMusic
Acoustic, Folk, Latin/Salsa, Pop
With his crystal-clear singing voice and vibrant, classically-inspired playing, José González is one of today’s most remarkable artists – testament to the irrefutable power of one man and a guitar. His debut album 'Veneer' captured his magical sound in its purest state, simply beautiful and beautifully simple. He has since toured the US extensively, selling out shows in every major market. While sonically similar to Veneer, José's recent release 'In Our Nature' shows González' growth as a songwriter. Displaying a heightened emphasis on melody and strong, focused lyrics – the album is a dark combination of softness and anger that is at once mesmerizing, intimate and hauntingly epic.

Il Volo

Pop, Classical (Solo Vocal)
Il Volo ("The Flight") is a trio of Italian pop-opera teenage singers, consisting of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble. In May 2009, they appeared on the popular Italian talent show 'Ti Lascio Una Canzone' and dazzled television viewers with their flawless rendition of the Neapolitan standard 'O Sole Mio.' They won the competition. “Il Volo,” meaning “flight,” was chosen as their name to signify the feeling that these three young tenors were about to spread their wings and fly. Already certified platinum in their homeland and several other countries, Il Volo has captured the hearts of Americans of all ages following their 'American Idol' debut and appearances on 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,' 'Good Morning America' and 'Ellen.' Andrew Bird

Folk, Indie, Pop, Rock
Andrew Bird picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent years learning classical music completely by ear. As a teen he became interested in jazz, country, blues and gypsy music, synthesizing them all into his own style of pop music. Since beginning his recording career in 1997, the now Chicago-based film score composer and multi-instrumentalist has gone on to record music with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and perform in Carnegie Hall. His latest release, 'Break It Yourself,' which was produced by Bird, has garnered high praise, including this from 'The Guardian': "The perfect album: tender without being sentimental, experimental yet accessible, utterly unique to its maker."
