Andrew Bird
With John Grant
Folk, Indie, Pop, Rock
Andrew Bird picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent years learning classical music completely by ear. As a teen he became interested in jazz, country, blues and gypsy music, synthesizing them all into his own style of pop music. Since beginning his recording career in 1997, the now Chicago-based film score composer and multi-instrumentalist has gone on to record music with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and perform in Carnegie Hall. His latest release, 'Break It Yourself,' which was produced by Bird, has garnered high praise, including this from 'The Guardian': "The perfect album: tender without being sentimental, experimental yet accessible, utterly unique to its maker."

Pat Benatar

Pop, Rock
Pat Benatar was one of the biggest rock stars of the '80s with hits like 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' and 'Love is a Battlefield,' and the multiple Grammy winner is still considered one of the true benchmarks for female artists making it in the male-dominated world of rock music. A pioneer in her field and one of the first stars during MTV's early years, Benatar married guitarist and producer Neil Giraldo back in the mid-80s, and since then the powerhouse duo's success has included multi-platinum albums, Top 40 singles, Grammys and American Music Awards and sold-out concerts.

Culture Club

Pop
Original Culture Club band members Mikey Craig (bass guitar), Roy Hay (guitar and keyboards), Jon Moss (drums and percussion) and flamboyant front-man Boy George (lead vocals) team up for their first full tour in over 12 years. With a career spanning 3+ decades, the GRAMMY® Award-winners first shot to international stardom in the 1980’s as one of the UK’s biggest exports of the 20th Century. A multi-racial band, with an openly gay front-man, Culture Club was ahead of the curve. They went on to become the first group since The Beatles to have three Top Ten hits in the United States from a debut album alone, selling in excess of 100 million singles and over 50 million albums worldwide, with top 10 hits in every country.

Gipsy Kings

World, Latin/Salsa, Pop
The best-selling French band in history, the Gipsy Kings is among the best-known non-English speaking groups in the U.S. (the band’s language is the Gypsy dialect of gitane). Since the 1987 release of the international hit single 'Bamboleo,' the Gipsy Kings have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide—more than four million in the United States alone. The band’s vigorous guitar work and passionate vocals are the trademarks of an indigenous musical tradition known as “rumba flamenca.” This group of actual French Gypsies gained popularity in the late '80s blending exotica with familiar European middle-of-the-road sounds. The Gipsy Kings have provided a steady stream of hits to Billboard’s world music, Latin, and pop charts. The ensemble’s music has been used in numerous motion pictures, including Peter Weir’s 'Fearless' and Joel and Ethan Coen’s 'The Big Lebowski.'

Cyndi Lauper

Pop
Cyndi Lauper was one of the biggest stars of the '80's MTV era, selling over five million copies of her album, 'She's So Unusual,' as well as scoring a string of Top Ten hits from the record, including 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' and 'Time After Time.' Her girlish voice and gleefully ragtag appearance became one of the most distinctive images of the time, which helped catapult her to stardom. Now, after displaying both longevity and versatility, Lauper is fondly regarded as one of the leading stateswomen of pop rock. Lauper received the 2013 Tony Award for her music and lyrics to the musical, 'Kinky Boots,' which won six awards including Best Musical.

Sigur Ros

Alternative
Named in part after a sister of one of the bandmembers, Reykjavik, Sigur Ros comes all the way from Iceland to bring their brand of ethereal music. Formed in early 1994 while the members were teenagers, the group's first recorded song earned them a deal with Iceland's Bad Taste label. Their sprawling debut LP, 'Von (Hope),' was released in 1997, followed the next year by a collection of remixes, 'Recycle Bin.' They're touring in support of their fifth studio album, 'Me Su í Eyrum Vi Spilum Endalaust (With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly).'
