Jose Gonzalez
With Paper Bird
Acoustic, Folk, Latin/Salsa, Pop
With his crystal-clear singing voice and vibrant, classically-inspired playing, José González is one of today’s most remarkable artists – testament to the irrefutable power of one man and a guitar. His debut album 'Veneer' captured his magical sound in its purest state, simply beautiful and beautifully simple. He has since toured the US extensively, selling out shows in every major market. While sonically similar to Veneer, José's recent release 'In Our Nature' shows González' growth as a songwriter. Displaying a heightened emphasis on melody and strong, focused lyrics – the album is a dark combination of softness and anger that is at once mesmerizing, intimate and hauntingly epic.

Bruce Hornsby

Pop, Jazz, Rock
Almost three decades after winning a Grammy for Best New Artist and launching one of contemporary music's most diverse careers, Bruce Hornsby still makes joyful noise as he discovers clever and expansive ways to chronicle dynamic musical snapshots of his often generously collaborative journey. Nothing better illustrates this than Hornsby's communion with his longtime band, the Noisemakers. And nothing catches that connection with more daring fluency than a couple of live collections released eleven years apart; 2011's Bride of the Noisemakers, a set of concert recordings from 2007 to 2009, and 2000's Here Come the Noisemakers, which initially unveiled Hornsby and his band's free-wheeling live approaches to the Virginia-born pianist and composer's memorable songs. Bruce Hornsby's work displays a creative iconoclasm that's been a constant in the artist's two-and-a-half decade recording career. His commercial stock soared early on, when The Way It Is-the title track of his 1986 debut album-became one of the most popular songs on American radio. Despite his early mainstream successes, Hornsby has pursued a more personal, idiosyncratic musical path, focusing on projects that sparked his creative interest, including collaborations with the Grateful Dead, Spike Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Don Henley, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Metheny, and Robbie Robertson. Hornsby's performance will offer a glimpse of a restless spirit who continues to push forward into exciting new musical terrain. - See more at: http://www.wichitaorpheum.com/events/482/bruce-hornsby-the-noisemakers/#sthash.E1kr09aA.dpuf
