Hauschka

Experimental (Incl. All Music Forms), Classical
Hauschka is the alias of Dusseldorf–based pianist/composer Volker Bertelmann, whose work is based upon an exploration of the possibilities of the 'prepared' piano - a playfully disruptive intervention into the preconceived idea of the piano as a pure-toned, perfected instrument waiting for a gifted virtuoso to play on it. The piano's sound can be changed by, for example, clamping wedges of leather, felt or rubber between the strings; preparing the hammers with aluminium paper or rough films; placing crown corks on the strings, weaving guitar strings around the piano's guts, or pasting them down with gaffers tape. The piano is played by manipulating the strings inside, instead of merely pressing the keys. Now and again Hauschka utilizes additional, non-piano sounds such as synthesizer, drum machine, electric bass, or other acoustic instruments like vibraphone, strings or brass.

Ethan Bortnick
With Damian McGinty
Classical, Family/Child, Pop
Ethan Bortnick has taken the entertainment world by storm with an amazing talent well beyond his years. The young pianist and composer seamlessly brings to life some of music’s most well-known classics and biggest hits from every era and genre, entertaining crowds with a repertoire that spans Bach and Mozart to disco, jazz, pop and rock. After making history in 2011 as the youngest entertainer to headline a show in Las Vegas with a residency at the Las Vegas Hilton Theater, Bortnick is poised for even greater things soon: he is currently busy with his 'It's All About Music' tour, and next year he'll be the star of the feature film, 'Anything is Possible,' for which he'll also co-write and perform the score. Not bad for before one's 13th birthday.

Miranda Sings

Musical Comedy, Cabaret, Solo Performance
'Miranda Sings' is an internet character created by Colleen Ballinger. The character is a satire of increasingly common YouTube videos featuring mediocre or even bad singers who film themselves singing as a form of self-promotion. Miranda is supposedly from Tacoma, Washington, sings comically off-key, and, when confronted by viewers who take the videos seriously, uses the catchphrase, "Haters back off!" The characterization includes facial tics, unusually active eyebrows and a crooked smile. She also wears lipstick drawn beyond all natural borders and often dances stiffly to the music she is performing. Expect special guests, onstage voice lessons, fashion makeovers and dramatic readings of hate mail.
